Memorial Day is next Monday, May 27th, but most will be celebrating with cookouts and beach fun this weekend. If you are staying with us in our Cottages by the Bay and looking to celebrate Memorial Day weekend, then you’ll be amazed at all the fun things to do in Destin! Memorial Day celebrations in Destin are plentiful, as this holiday weekend kicks off summer vacation. Fortunately for us, it looks like nothing but clear skies and warm weather this weekend! You can expect high temperatures between 84 and 90 degrees from Friday to Sunday. You couldn’t ask for more perfect weather when spending time at the beach! - Memorial Day at Baytowne Wharf – Every year the Village of Baytowne Wharf puts on their Memorial Day celebration, and we cannot wait for this year’s festivities! From May 25th until the 27th, this popular spot in Destin will be decked out in red, white, and blue. Dance the evening away to live music by the Forrest Williams Band and Coconut Radio. Enjoy family-friendly activities in addition to an incredible fireworks show. On Memorial Day – Monday, May 27th – the Sandestin Veterans will present a Memorial Day program in honor of veterans at 5 PM.
- Memorial Day at HarborWalk Village – Another one of our favorite Memorial Day celebrations in Destin, the fun at HarborWalk Village is not to be missed! The Destin Harbor will be as patriotic as can be on May 25th and 26th. Not only will we be welcoming summer, but we’ll also be honoring our veterans as well! With family-friendly fun, live music, and fireworks, it’s no surprise why this annual event is one of our favorites. As an added bonus, it’s free and open to the public!
- 34th Annual Memorial Day Gate to Gate Run – Over at Eglin Air ForceBase, lace up your shoes for the 34th Annual Memorial Day Gate to Gate Run! This is one of the area’s oldest Memorial Day traditions. Runners of all ages and skill levels are welcome! After the beginning of the main race, kids can partake in a free kids’ run as well. Runners are provided flowers to drop at the Veteran’s Memorial along the route. Afterward, enjoy a post-race party with live entertainment and refreshments! Register for the race here.
