Read below for more information on Captain Leonard Park.

The Boardwalk

For the family members who just want a place to enjoy the gorgeous view of the boats going by on the Choctawhatchee Bay, the boardwalk provides the perfect spot. Take a walk at sunset and snap a gorgeous picture. The boardwalk is handicap accessible as well. There is also a dock to walk on and see if you can spot any fish in the Bay.

The Splash Pad

The Cottages by the Bay do have a pool for you to enjoy during your stay, but the groups with kids too young to swim, check out the splash pad. This way, everyone in your party can enjoy fun in the sun and be able to cool off splashing in the water.

Accessible Beach Area

When you stay in the heart of Destin, you will experience a bit of a drive to a public beach access point. However, Captain Leonard Park offers an accessible beach area that is just as fun as any Gulf-front beach! It is safe for kids to swim around in the water while you catch up on a good book laying out in the sun.

The History

The property was once home to the man who established Destin as a fishing village, Leonard Destin. It is said he came over from New London, Connecticut in the mid-1800s. So, not only is Captain Leonard Park a wonderful new activity in Destin, but it also gives guests a glimpse into how the area came to be.
